Supervisor Additional Considerations
The Employee Performance and Development System is intended to be equitable, timely and as objective as possible. When conducted on a regular basis within the context of a supportive relationship between you and your employees, the EPDS process is an effective management tool for:
-
Acknowledging and rewarding exceptional performance
-
Encouraging and building on solid performance
-
Coaching to turn around poor performance
Performance management training will be available through A & I – HRD’s Recruitment and Selection Workforce and Training Coordinator. Such training will help with creating objective performance measures, preparing for a review, communicating with employees and identifying appropriate follow up. Initially, getting employees aligned to workplace goals and objectives may be time consuming. However, the investment of time to become skilled in performance management will benefit employees, your unit/branch/section etc. and your agency as a whole.
